Animazement 2008 Gundam Panel
This panel was a bit of a washout. There was probably 50 people tops in the room. People didn’t really get into asking questions.
The panelists were (left to right) Kotono Mitsuishi, Keiko Han and Mitsuo Fukuda.
No lynch crowd!
With a straining voice, the MC introduced the panelists to us. We then watched a clip out of Gundam Seed Destiny. Man, that was actually kind of cool?
Animazement 2008 Voice Actress Panel
This panel was one of the first thing at the start of the convention Friday, 1pm. Looks like they’re going to do some live dubbing with audience participating!
A little tidbit about Animazement. Much like how the now-president of Gainax pulls for Fanime, Kamiya and Han work hard to get fellow voice actors to come to the con. Well, the results are pretty obvious. Or rather, voice actors know voice actors, after all?
The panel started with some technical difficulty. It seems they have a prepared DVD with menus and all, ready to show clips from various shows (mostly Sailor Moon) for all the guests at the con. But somehow they couldn’t get the sound to work. Funny enough few moments later they couldn’t mute the darn thing. We spent a good 10 minutes at the panel looking at the panelists being confused as to how to proceed. Anyways, it was all good. This particular panel was also extra 30-40 minutes longer with an attached autograph session at the end. So we spent roughly 15 minutes goofing around, 15 minutes dubbing, and 30 minutes Q&A.
Kotono Mitsuishi Focus Panel, Animazement 2008
This panel took place nice and early at 10 in the morning on a bright, May Saturday. I arrived at the room only 10 minutes before starting, and was lucky enough to get a front-row seat. I guess this is just not that big of a con when it comes to the guest seeker track of programming.

[Edit: all three focus panel I was at are up]
Some roads are best traveled with a group.
I’ve said this before and I’m going to say it again–Animazement is one of the best American convention for Japanese guest seekers. And I think it is also one of the better cons for guests as well. While it’s common that the guests’ interaction with us selfish American fans become a taxing exercise for both, it is also done with a genuine sense of respect and admiration, usually from both sides. At a little con like Animazement, with attendance a fraction of larger (the Friday panel only drew 110 or so attendees), well-known cons, Mitsuishi gets peppered with flowers and gifts. Even at Otakon and other large cons, this is uncommon.
Semi-Live Animazement Blogging: Day 2
Times like this I want to belt out some lines out of Sen’ichite.
Jouji Nakata has this amped up deep voice. It pwns the lineup so he wisely kept out most of it. But no Mitsuishi, to the disappointment of some. I knew Akira Kamina was up to something anyways. He’s a smooth old fox.
Most of today is me pacing back and forth in front of the Cospa booth in the dealers room and watching the prices on those Ruu shirts drop to reasonable range. And a very nice Niipa tea cup that I had to pass on based on principle. And this very cute Saber pillow cover. Too bad I will still not buy it :3 And also, waiting on Momotato (!).
And this is probably it for Animazement 2008 from omo. One more big-ass con report post with more pics, loots and youtube links next up.
