Whoring for Eminence, Tenmon: Promise
Unashamed, I bring you news of what made me whores of Eminence Symphony Orchestra in the first place–
Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho (Youtube).
Instead of the 7-piece version that totally charmed me during Otakon 2007, now a presumably similar (if not better) piece (and its friends!) will be recorded and made available this December, via “Promise.” Hit up Xcomp for track list and more details translated from the official site, but besides the above track there will also be piano arranged pieces and a selection of different music from all the SHINKAI x TENMON pieces during their 10-year tenure as collaborators. Hiro’s blogs also have some pictures and brief texts. Going to copy-pasta the tracks down here and add random comments–
- One More Chance, One More Time (Instrumental) [5cm/s … you know this]
- Omoide wa Tooku no Hibi [Memories are Distant Days] [5cm/s - this is the memorable track you hear from the trailer]
- Kanae no Kimochi [Kanae’s Feelings] [From 5cm/s, this is the country-ish acoustic guitar track that gets played in Cosmonaut]
- The Place Promised in Our Early Days Theme [It’s probably track 1 on the OST, although I’m wishing it to be track 24 XD]
- Futari no Keikaku / Kibou to Akogare [Their Plan / Hope and Aspiration] [Tracks 5 and 7 from Beyond the Cloud, the two piano pieces from the beginning of the film and the trailer.]
- Sayuri [The slow piano piece from Beyond the Cloud that is also similarly arranged as the lead-in/bridge to “Beyond the Cloud, the Promise Place” (track 24 of OST)]
- The Place Promised in Our Early Days Theme (Piano Version) [Not sure how this is different than track 1 of OST, besides one is violin accompanied by piano. Also could be like track 20.]
- Futari no Kattou [Their Differences] [The sorrow-ish, strings quartet piece, track 19 on the OST from Kumo no Mukou]
- Kimi no Koe (Instrumental) [Your Voice] [The vocal theme at the end of the film from Kumo no Mukou…without vocals, presumably. Track 25.]
- Through the Years and Far Away [Main theme to Hoshi no Koe, track 1 to OST. Hello little star? Not sure if it is the vocal version.]
- Mikako kara no Tayori [News from Mikako] [The piano solo piece used in the first segment of the film.]
- She and Her Cat Theme [I’m guessing it’s something like this]
- Bonus Track – She and Her Cat Theme (Piano Version) [Your guess is as good as mine.]
So what I’m going to do is go bug Hiro/whoever else over yonder or down under and see if I can get some questions answered–
- How many instruments for which tracks and who?
- How to buy? (Then again, everyone asks this.) (Update: it’ll be on the Eminence online store, for starters.)
- Rearrangement? As is, this is going to be a very short album if things play out just like they are on the soundtracks.
- iTunes and others like it? (As an aside, Eminence put out a bunch of Soul Calibur related tracks on iTunes US last month.)
You should too go and bug ‘em, on their forum and this dude. Lastly, if you want to nerdrage about HQCDs, you’ve been beaten to the punch.

Sold! Their performance of Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho from that concert was one of the most memorable musical experiences I’ve ever had.
Wish they’d do another show in Melbourne though :(
