Xam’d Episode 23 - The Real Folks Blues
Two of our three female leads revealed their true back story.
The third one shows plenty of grit.
This episode starts up the beginning of the end. War is fully in progress; everyone is plugged in. Including the Zanbani! It finally got fixed completely, and coincides with a radio call from Nakiami using Zeygend’s ship.
Zeygend’s ship…is this the first time we got a full view?
It is also there that Nakiami explains her fallout with Sannova. It’s cute, but in that Graves of the Fireflies kind of way. Also, Kobako.
Lil’ Nakiami looks kinda evil if you ask me.
The scene where Nakiami walks into the twilight with Kobako on her back was gold.
But yes, a radio call.
Akushiba, naturally, orgasms.
To the dismay of the kids.
(By the way, stealth GADGET CHECK–Nakiami sports some stylin’ late 80s style cans. Pimping.)
The women wear the pants on this ship.
Onboard the Southern flagship…
Midori looks kinda different.
Weirdly enough, when the southern ships arrives the spot where the Xam’ds are gathering, it just starts to slaughter all the pilgrims.
(Is it me or does that ASP look a little different…)
Why?
Probably because they have those meat tubes that lets people control turrets of DEATH.
Screen caps do not do justice. It’s like getting tentacle raped, except it’s not tentacles but … just fleshy orifice.
Shocking, we know.
This shot is also oh-so Laputa-ish. Except we got high school kids now.
Oh, somehow, Nakiami and Yango scored another Kayak from Zaygand. That means 2 out of 3 of our protagonist girls are flyin’ stylin’~~ And the guys with the guns (oh are they packin’ HEAT) in the back.
Yango even caught a pokemon with his face. Score!
That means, next episode, we will see this:
Oh yeah, now we’re talking.
I have to admit, this episode is actually quite the emotional rollercoaster. I’m moved in a way. But somehow it just doesn’t have that impact.
Maybe that is because I’m watching this one episode at a time? I think episodes 21-26 probably ought to be marathoned for maximum impact.
The real high and low come with the Ishu x Raigyo section of episode 23’s narrative.
Warring against the Northern emperor.
I am going to forward a guess here. Ishu, Raigyo, Amu and others were originally part of a resistance force against the Nothern emperor. Probably because of their treatment of humanform weapons and the aggression towards the south. Obviously the South could care less about either of them, but there will be no end to the violence until the Hiroken Emperor was removed.
The mail operation was probably something of a compromise as Ishu went soft after her first love died.
From that point on, she turned into Spike Spiegel! It definitely explains her general apathy and the tendencies for escapism. And the full nine yars of Could-Care-Less Badassery perks.
And the mail shipping operation. And the rag-tag crew. I guess she can’t be bad with women, but do Xam’ds count as animals?
And there we have it.
Raigyo is just Ishu’s resurrected Julia. Or Faye? You tell me. But damn, that bastard is smoooooooth.
Mission accomplished? Or is Hiruken Emperor pulling a multi-stage boss encounter here? Ishu may have extracted her revenge, but was she living in the first place? How about her star?
Anyways, next up on Xam’d: Lost Memories–
You know things are hitting the fan once the preview starts to quote the English language sub-title to the show…
Can’t wait!

tl;dr
Episode 10, eh? EPISODE 10, EH?
Hiruken Emperor looked bad ass tho when he showed up on top it was like “HA! thought i was dead didnt ya!”
I dunno why it said 10. Ooops.
I can’t wait until I have time to see this episode. Looks like the climax is really going to be great =)
i can’t even imagine what the climax will entail. hopefully some aerial combat :3
You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for aerial combat. Just look at the season 2 trailer.
Season 2 trailer? What’s that? Please explain! I wanna see.
The title reminds me of 《cowboy bepop》, its last episode also had this title.
