Peach-Time Capsule
While it’s customary(?) to post about Momotato’s update, it’s probably time to explain why I care about him so. It isn’t just because I am old and I know him from way back, although it helped a great deal. It is certainly not because I met him for the first time last year (and wishing I can do so yet again soon).
It’s hard to say, but of all the internet anime people who made a stand and dug a hole on the intarwebs to call it a blog that I have met, there is none as special as this guy (yet?). There’s just a mix of home-grown charm and Japanese sensibilities that capture some of what I like about anime, except it’s in a person.
It’s not so much he’s like an anime, of course not…but it’s a perspective and mentality that a lot of anime share between them that I find it comfortable to see it embodied in a man. It’s also because he is no GIFT to the internet, and that certainly helps to reach out and pull like-minded souls together around the man. Think of a Jeff Lawson that gets to the point and is much more precise, despite their obvious differences in the more tangible things.
And that only scratches the surface. And it isn’t like I get anything by sucking up to him. He’s just so adorable :wub:

I made it a tradition to look forward to Momo’s Annual New Year update. It’s one of the few old sites that I still visit. Well, this one too of course.

Oh. Here’s to hoping that 2009 brings you more fun. 2008 didn’t do enough for me.

I’m way too new to the anime scene and wasn’t around when momotato was, but I do love reading his yearly posts when you talk about them. I really feel like I’m seeing some kind of champion of anime blogging, like ‘this is where I want to end up ten years down the line’ though not necessarily doing one post a year, haha.

I just really like his writing style - clear and concise. Plus, I have this preconception of him being this super legendary guy on the internet.
He’s probably not that legendary. We just give him mad props.

I managed to start reading his blog right before he started only during the yearly posts, so I wasn’t able to see a lot of what he did before than. But I do remember that his stuff was pretty… distilled. :P
I just love his site’s design, and those images in the later posts.
Yea, I think for all the props we give him on the ‘net, he’s a pretty down to earth person in RL. LOL I know I would have an inflated ego if I was him!
I missed the Momotato boat at the time, though his New Year’s updates are fun to read.
Maybe we can get Jeff to update on the Lunar New Year.
