Year in Review: I Can Fly

December 21st, 2008

…where’s my Animelo 2008 DVDs?

No, really, the year’s end holidays is one of the couple times in a year when I can spare a whole day to bask in the glory of such massive gathering of anison energy, all day long. I know this year Animelo was twice as long as 2007, and naturally that involved more handshakes and licensing agreements than ever. I guess I just have to wait. Or go to Moy’s house for some LIVE FIGHTER goodness ;-)

Or, I’ll just spend some time living in the past. Otakon 2008 was such a dream come true. That one Taiwanese girl who spoke about the dream coming true when meeting Makkun face to face, at the Saturday panel, spoke my mind. Squeee.

While few things, ever, can top being at a JAM Project live, reading about how fans all around the world feel about the same experience is pretty good too. It was fun reading about them in Taiwan and Brazil before I got to see them. And it’s weird yet neat to get pingback from a French blog when JAM Project played there in October. There were pictures and videos of them in Mexico City. Likewise is on Youku and others if you can do Chinese, for their three China stops. We know the full-metal spirit knows no borders!

And that kind of brings this post to my second, and probably more fulfilling point. What’s so great about cons is the memories I make with all of you. Which is why you should try to get yourself to one of the gatherings we throw. I will always have a good time, or have a good time trying to do that. And maybe you will too.

I met so many of you, and it brings me to tears that so many of you are awesome in the flesh as you are on the net. I think. I definitely cannot remember all your names and faces, let alone blog URLs and what not, but we should definitely do more so I could? And likewise I know I probably could have met some of you but I didn’t due to some reason on my side, so I’m sorry and let’s try again next year!

And those who are going to be more mobile, more agile, and geographically relocated better in 2009 than you are in 2008, it’s never too early to start thinking about it. Like those who got their college acceptance letters…

Haha, I think I mentioned this before, but I really need to get to some of those American cons some time. Anime North is nice but I think most of the people I really want to meet are in either New York or LA >_

Beautiful memories. I know my presence probably went largely under your radar, but yours was one of the best parts of otakon for me. I will definitely never forget those words you spoke after I sang the Soultaker… as I hopped off stage… “That was awesome!” … I almost cried.

Otakon buddies, ho! I look forward to Otakon every single time for wacky adventures with all of you. I still appreciate tolerating me year after year, omo.

Maybe we’ll get Mizuki Nana, Eiko, Megumi Nakajima/May’n, eufonius,
Haruka Shimotsuki, or some other musical class act in 2009. Or haha, COOL & CREATE. Chances are slim, though… I hope to see another musical guest rivaling JAM Project some day. I’ll have memories for a lifetime.

    “Otakon buddies, ho!”

Pretty much. Will try my damnedest to make it to Otakon 2009, and so sad that I missed JAM Project live, though the Q&A made up for it. If only standing on chairs was A-OK. :P

LOL Otakon buddies. It’s always fun to have you guys around. And digitalboy really can sing that rock music! N needs to fail less and come to the full Otakon experience next year.

I should’ve also made a distinction about the people I’ve met online that are new this year as well as ones I met in real life. Both are cool and I hope you know who you are :)

Otakon this past year was a blast, no doubt about that. I think the best moment was when we randomly had a dozen anime bloggers together out of the blue. Like I said, we should have held an panel in the hallway to kill time LOL

… and @#$!, no way I’ll be getting LIVE FIGHTER by the end of the week! Blast the holiday season for this (which is also holding up another 2-3 packages) XD

Just kidding, no pressure. Whenever’s cool.

Indeed. I thought I’d be able to throw the set in a December order, but now I’m wondering if it will even make my January order.
