I think they just signed their own death note. Are CR’s new teammates really going to allow all the pirated shit on the site already? CR is lucky if anything, but god I feel bad for all the subbers whose translations and styling who have ended up bringing the site solid advertisement audience…
-_- unoriginal
If big studios can do business with youtube, TV Tokyo should be fine with all the pirated crap on CR because that’s just how it is. Of course that also means CR will be taking them down more. If the license holders are happy enough with that (and I think they are–hence the deal) then who are we to say otherwise?
Actually CR said they will go fully legit by only hosting videos with permission from the copyright holders as well as not allow uploads anymore from January, just a bit before this Naruto deal starts. I think that is what turned TV Tokyo, so the big studios of Japan are actually not “ok with it” afterall. This is interesting because now CR is essentially purging a large part of their original attraction to the n00bs.
“okay with it” refers to their history. It’s pretty obvious that if big guys are going to sign up legitimately they will have to change accordingly. But I guess they didn’t care so much for the upstart.
I had a clever answer for that, but you probably already thought of it.
It’s not like CR is gonna stream stuff for free. TV Tokyo will allegedly be streaming 5 of their series for now (Naruto and Gintama are confirmed). Then they have Toei, GONZO… I’m sure a few more will follow suit.
I’m just glad ANN wasn’t invited to the party. :D We honestly don’t need a one-stop anime destination.
I’m still wondering why the fuck it had to be CR of all sites
Because CR cares about anime. Most others don’t.
