Xam’d Episode 7 - She’s Climbing the Wrong Tower
You could say this is another build-up episode, where they are working hard to bring Haru and Akiyuki back to each other. The next episode previews as much, but will they find each other at the ends of a gun?
But Bones know we want some action every episode–honestly I don’t really care and at times I wish they’d throw us a curveball. Like those funky, out-of-left-field fillers in Eureka 7. I guess you can’t sneak one in so early in the series. Instead, we get part deux of the nth Angel - The Pregger Woman! The fetus strikes back at you, liberal pro-choice people!
The forest scene was a reminder that at one point, people were comparing this show to Studio Ghibli. The curious humanoid statue is, well, curious.
How did Akiyuki get into a forest? Oh, right, this is suppose to ramp up as the first half of Akiyuki’s journey from his airdrop to his rendezvous with Haru, as communicated by the barrage of her letters.
With Haru in the picture, naturally Akiyuki butts head with Nakiami. And the rest of the crew to an extent. He’s on his own to try to catch up to the delivery ship after meeting up with Haru, and it looks like they won’t be waiting if he is late.
But whose whitestriped flag is that? Honest when I first saw this shot, it was sequentally right after Akiyuki receives Haru’s letter. Makes you wonder.
I guess having sexy pictures of women plastered inside your bunk is like having figures and posters hanging in your room?
You could be a gadget freak. I mean, I do try to keep up with personal electronics news and stuff, and Xam’d so far is one nice ride for the design-minded gadget freak. There are some neat stuff in the show and this eye-tracker is quite the design. It’s basically a homing beacon detector that looks like, well, an eye. When it’s active it looks like just a minimap with a blinking red dot, but when it’s not, lol.
This episode doesn’t really do much exposition on setting nor character, but it’s ramping Furuichi up for some “stuff” later on, and showing us that Haru’s not exactly your everyday island girl.
Hopefully we’re going to see something dramatic, if not also exciting, next episode. We’ve already got a glimpse of two new characters with lines, and according to the preview there’ll be something or someone new. Can’t wait!

OMG now I can’t unsee it!!! It was pretty odd how Akiyuki could slice off the humanform arm without slicing off the actual human arm (which was sorta flopping around afterwards).
they take a lot of liberty with those humanform transformations, yeah.
